Indian tennis champion Sania Mirza has revealed that she and cricketer Shoaib Malik concluded their divorce “for a few months now.”
This revelation comes a day after Shoaib Malik announced his marriage to actor Sana Javed on Instagram. Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik were married in April 2010, celebrating their union with ceremonies in both Pakistan and India. The couple welcomed their first child in 2018.
Sania Mirza’s father, Imran, shared a statement addressing the situation: “Sania has always kept her personal life away from the public eye. However, today the need has arisen for her to share that Shoaib and she have been divorced for a few months now. She wishes Shoaib well for his new journey ahead!” He also requested fans and well-wishers to respect her need for privacy during this sensitive period.
Before this announcement, Sania Mirza had not directly addressed rumors about her divorce. However, she had shared several cryptic messages on Instagram related to marriage. A few months earlier, both Mirza and Malik were seen together at their son Izhaan’s fifth birthday party in Dubai.
