The interim bail of Imran Khan in the cases related to the May 9, 2012, protest has been reinstated.

Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), received a reprieve as the Lahore High Court (LHC) reinstated his interim bail in seven cases related to the May 9 riots.

The high court directed the trial court to issue a verdict on Khan’s interim bail petitions. This decision follows the rejection of bail extension petitions by an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in seven cases, including the May 9 riots and the attack on Jinnah House.

Imran Khan and his party leadership face numerous legal challenges ahead of the February 8 nationwide elections. Additionally, the PTI suffered setbacks, losing its iconic “bat” electoral symbol and facing alliance issues with PTI-Nazriati.

Meanwhile, competitors like the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have initiated nationwide campaigns.
