Taiyanna Jackson, a player for the Kansas Jayhawks basketball team, has won her third Big 12 Player of the Week award at Kansas University (KU).
She earned this honor after a great game against Brigham Young University (BYU) Cougars, where she made a significant impact, as reported by Kansan.
In that game, Jackson faced off against Lauren Gustin, a top rebounder, and managed to grab an impressive 22 rebounds. This performance made her the first KU basketball player since 2015 to achieve a 20-point/20-rebound game, scoring 25 points in their 67-53 win.
During the same game, Jackson achieved her 36th career double-double by reaching 10 or more in two different statistical categories. This accomplishment is the third-highest in the history of Kansas women’s basketball, a record not seen since Vickie Adkins in the 1980s.
In another victory against Texas Christian University (TCU) with a score of 81-74 on February 4, Jackson contributed 20 points and nine rebounds, adding to her outstanding performance.
Now, with Taiyanna Jackson being named Big 12 Player of the Week, the Kansas team is heading into their next game against Houston on Thursday night, aiming to extend their two-game winning streak.
