In the 2024 election, Shoaib Shaheen from PTI filed a case with the IHC regarding the results of NA-47.

Shoaib Shaheen, a lawyer from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), who ran as an independent candidate in the general elections for NA-47 Islamabad-II constituency, has taken the matter to the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Saturday, contesting the election results.

In the 2024 general elections held on February 8, Shaheen faced defeat from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, who secured the constituency with 102,502 votes. Shaheen finished as the runner-up, gathering 86,396 votes. He has challenged the results presented by the returning officer (RO) in court.

Speaking to the media at the court, Shaheen, along with Ali Bukhari, mentioned filing a petition and requested the registrar’s office to schedule a prompt hearing.

“We urge the chief justice of the IHC to listen to the case right away. The entire Islamabad knows that NA-47 is my constituency,” stated Shaheen, noting that they also possess Form 45.

He expressed concerns about pressure on the returning officers (ROs), saying, “The ROs are being pressured.”

A day earlier, Salman Akram Raja, PTI’s candidate from NA-128 Lahore and a senior lawyer, filed a petition challenging the results in his constituency.
