Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has picked Ali Amin Gandapur as their choice for Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Ali Amin Gandapur, who used to be a federal minister and was elected in the general elections of 2024 to both the national and provincial assembly, has now been chosen as the chief minister candidate for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by PTI.
Imran Khan, the founder of PTI, mentioned during a casual talk with journalists at Adiala Jail that Ali Amin is nominated for Chief Minister KP. He also emphasized that there won’t be any discussions with PML-N, PPP, and MQM.
Who is Ali Amin Gandapur?
Ali Amin Khan Gandapur is an important Pakistani politician. He served as the Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan from October 5, 2018, to April 10, 2022.
Before working at the federal level, Gandapur was a member of the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2013 to 2018.
While in the provincial assembly, he held the position of Provincial Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Revenue.
Gandapur comes from a politically active Pashtun family in Dera Ismail Khan. His father, Major (retd) Aminullah Gandapur, also had a role in politics. His brother, Sardar Faisal Amin Khan Gandapur, is also involved in politics, showing the family’s political influence.
Gandapur’s education started at Saint Helens High School, Dera Ismail Khan, and he later completed matriculation from the Police Model School in Peshawar.
He pursued his BA (honors) from Gomal University in Dera Ismail Khan, highlighting his commitment to both education and his political career.
Gandapur began his political journey by getting elected to the Provincial Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2013 as a member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. Later, he successfully contested the 2018 Pakistani general election and secured a seat in the National Assembly of Pakistan from Constituency NA-38 (Dera Ismail Khan-I).
