The United States repeats its request for an investigation into ‘election irregularities.’

On Monday, the United States once again urged for an inquiry into any potential irregularities in Pakistan’s elections.

State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller emphasized the importance of the Pakistani government moving forward in a way that represents the will of the people. He mentioned that the U.S. wishes to see investigations into reported irregularities progress and conclude as swiftly as possible.

Addressing a question during the daily briefing, the spokesperson acknowledged that the formation of a new government is a process led by the people of Pakistan.

He clarified that the United States is not directly involved in this process and, therefore, refrained from providing further comments.

The U.S. government is keen on ensuring that any concerns about irregularities in the electoral process are thoroughly examined. They hope for a transparent and prompt investigation that aligns with the democratic principles and wishes of the Pakistani people. The emphasis is on respecting the autonomy of the Pakistani electoral process while encouraging a fair and just resolution to any reported issues.
