On Wednesday, Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), took a step by filing a case in the Supreme Court.
He claims that there was cheating during the general elections held on February 8, 2024. In his plea, Imran Khan, who is currently in custody, asked for the formation of a special commission to investigate the alleged rigging. He wants this commission to be made up of judges from the Supreme Court. Additionally, he requested that the federal and Punjab governments be suspended until the commission submits its report.
Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, also called for a judicial commission to look into the cipher case and the alleged rigging in the recent elections. Gandapur mentioned that according to Form 45, PTI emerged as the winner, but he suspects tampering with the results. Many other parties have also raised concerns about the fairness of the elections, alleging rigging.
Asad Qaiser, a PTI leader and former National Assembly speaker, declared that his party plans to protest against what they see as the theft of their victory in the February 8 elections. Qaiser emphasized that PTI will unite with other political groups and start a movement against what they perceive as a rigged election. He assured that their protest would be peaceful and nationwide, to stand up not just for their party’s interests, but for the entire nation’s welfare.
