Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), spoke from Adiala Jail, saying that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) didn’t join the government because they believed it wouldn’t last long.
He criticized the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikander Sultan Raja, calling him a liar. Imran predicted that the current government wouldn’t survive more than 5 or 6 months, and warned of increased inflation after signing a new deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He expressed concerns about the IMF program, insisting on political stability before taking more loans. Imran highlighted the importance of overseas Pakistanis in stabilizing the economy and attracting foreign investment. He stated his readiness to stay in jail for another 4 to 5 months and accused efforts to create differences between his party and the army.
Imran claimed that events on May 9, 2023, were planned to discredit his party but failed. He announced plans to invite all parties affected by election rigging to PTI’s upcoming public meeting and invited JUIF chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman as well.
Regarding recent terrorist attacks, Imran emphasized maintaining good relations with Afghanistan regardless of the ruling government. He credited his party for facilitating peace talks between the Taliban and the US. Imran accused PMLN leader Hassan Nawaz of suspicious financial activities and claimed both Nawaz’s sons were guilty in the Panama case.
Imran also defended President Arif Alvi and criticized KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for not appearing with PM Shehbaz Sharif after receiving funds. He alleged that Hassan Nawaz would soon leave for London.
