The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is feeling very sad about the passing away of Saeed Ahmed, who used to be a Test Captain and had the 27th Test cap of Pakistan.
He was 86 years old.
Saeed played in 41 Test matches for Pakistan and scored 2,991 runs, including five centuries and 16 half-centuries.
He also took 22 wickets with his right-arm off-spin bowling.
His first Test match was against the West Indies in 1958, and he played his final Test in Melbourne during the 1972/73 tour.
Saeed became Pakistan’s sixth Test captain when he replaced Hanif Mohammad during England’s tour of Pakistan in 1969. However, he only led the team in three Tests.
Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of PCB, expressed the board’s sadness over Saeed Ahmed’s passing.
He said that Saeed served Pakistan with dedication, and the PCB respects and appreciates his contributions to the Test team.
