A suicide bombing targeted a bus carrying Chinese engineers working on a dam project in Pakistan’s Shangla district on Tuesday.
The blast killed five Chinese nationals and one Pakistani driver. Rescue workers extinguished the fire and retrieved the bodies.
The attack sent shockwaves through both China and Pakistan. China demanded a full investigation and increased security, while Pakistan vowed to find those responsible. Pakistan’s military blamed “foreign elements” for aiding terrorism.
This attack, following a similar one in 2021, is seen as an attempt to disrupt the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project. Both countries are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
