The Supreme Court has permitted military courts to announce their verdicts under certain conditions.

A six-member panel of judges, led by Justice Aminuddin Khan, held a hearing on the trial of civilians in military courts.

The Supreme Court instructed to only announce judgments in cases where the individuals could be released before Eid.

The court also ordered the release of 15 to 20 detained individuals before Eid. The Attorney General assured the court that they would try to release the prisoners and was instructed not to re-arrest them under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) after their release.

The Supreme Court sought details of those sentenced for less than three years and was informed that they would receive statutory concessions in their sentences. The Attorney General revealed the possibility of releasing 15 to 20 individuals accused of violence on May 9 before Eid.

The court allowed the military courts to announce their reserved judgments, subject to the final decision of the appeals. The court also accepted the request of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to withdraw its appeals and adjourned the hearing until the fourth week of April.
