Apple is releasing a brand new iPhone update called iOS 18 this June.
This update will be really special because it might use super smart technology to make your phone even more helpful. However, not all iPhones will be able to use this update. iPhones made before 2018, like the iPhone 7 and older SE models, won’t be powerful enough to run this new system. It’s like trying to run a race car on a tiny go-kart track – the phone just isn’t built for it.
This new update needs a special chip called the A12 Bionic chip, which came out with the iPhone XR and XS in 2018. Older iPhones have different chips that are a bit slower, so they can’t keep up with the fancy new features. While Apple usually stops letting older iPhones use the newest updates, they’re keeping the iPhone 7 and 8 series on the guest list this year.
If you have an iPhone newer than the iPhone 8 (including the iPhone X and later), you should be able to get the iOS 18 update when it comes out in June. This means you’ll get all the cool new features and your phone will stay up-to-date. But if you have an iPhone 6s or something even older, it won’t be able to use this update.
