KP police chief: Terrorists behind Dera Ismail Khan and Tank attacks identified

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police chief Akhtar Hayat Khan has claimed that the terrorists responsible for recent attacks on security personnel have been identified and their identity will be revealed soon. Speaking at the inauguration of the “command and control room” at the City Police Station in Charsadda, Khan emphasized that events in Afghanistan have implications for peace in Pakistan, and the police are fully prepared to counter terrorism.

Khan highlighted the collaboration between intelligence agencies and the police in restoring peace in southern districts, with intelligence-based reports leading to the prevention of 99 percent of terrorism attempts. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) is being organized across the province, extending its role to tribal districts. Security forces are actively working to protect the country’s border with Afghanistan and have successfully restored peace in some tribal districts that were once militant strongholds.

The newly inaugurated command and control room will oversee the operation of over 700 CCTV cameras installed in small markets and intersections across the district to monitor criminal activities. DIG Sulaiman Khan and DPO Nazir Khan were also present at the event.

In separate incidents in Charsadda, four people were killed. The suspect, Amirzada, shot his daughter-in-law and Sudher of Sanam Gahri over an extramarital affair. The perpetrator later surrendered to the police, and a murder case has been registered for further investigation.
