Trump is facing 34 felony charges in New York, and his trial is ongoing. This makes him the first former US president to face a criminal trial. Due to these charges, some loyal Republican supporters didn’t vote for him. Terry Bimle from Pennsylvania, for example, said, “I’m a strong Republican, but it’s hard to support Mr. Trump,” and chose to vote for Haley instead.
In a recent poll by Franklin & Marshall, 48% of voters believed Trump was better at handling the economy compared to 39% for Biden. Trump’s legal battles and the opinions of voters like Bimle highlight the uncertainty surrounding his political future.
