A Pakistani doctor working in the UK makes a big difference in his home country.

Renowned pediatrician Professor Abdul Rashid Gatrad OBE has been dedicated to improving healthcare and education for underprivileged children globally.

He has raised over £3 million for health projects and helped build a state-of-the-art cleft hospital in Pakistan. This hospital, funded by donors mainly from Muslim communities, provides free surgeries and services.

Professor Gatrad emphasizes the need for vocational training for disadvantaged children, especially girls, to empower them and aid in Pakistan’s long-term development. Through his charity, Midland International Trust (MIAT), he has established various healthcare facilities in over 20 countries, benefitting thousands of people.

Despite being 78 years old, Professor Gatrad remains passionate about his mission. He plans to meet Pakistani officials to advocate for vocational education for marginalized groups. His work reflects a lifelong commitment to serving humanity and leaving behind a legacy of hope and compassion.
