An elderly Australian couple traveling through Pakistan in their 102-year-old open car had to stop their journey because they became sick from the intense heat in Jacobabad.
Lang and Bev Kidby, well-known adventurers from Australia, have been exploring and leading expeditions in over 80 countries for more than 40 years. They began their current trip from London, planning to end in Melbourne.
Both Lang and Bev are over 70 years old. Their coordinator, Mohsin Ikram, said that after reaching Jacobabad, they decided to stop traveling in their old car. Instead, they loaded the car onto a truck and sent it to Lahore, while they continued to Lahore in a regular car. From there, they plan to reach India via the Wagah Border.
The couple entered Pakistan through the Taftan border on May 23 and were expected to leave Balochistan around May 25-26. Their journey in the 1922 car is under the FIVA flag, the global governing body for vintage automobiles, which operates in about 100 countries. This drive is being followed and covered internationally.
