Today (Tuesday, May 28th) is a big celebration in Pakistan.
It’s the 26th anniversary of Youm-e-Takbeer, which is the day Pakistan successfully tested nuclear weapons for the first time.
It made Pakistan the 7th country in the world with nuclear weapons. It showed Pakistan could defend itself against other countries in the region. It helped create more balance of power in South Asia.
Leaders like Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the people and military for this achievement. He said it took a lot of hard work from everyone in Pakistan to make it happen. The Prime Minister also thanked former leaders for their role in starting and continuing Pakistan’s nuclear program.
The military also sent a message saying they are proud of this accomplishment. They said it helped Pakistan become a stronger country in the region.
