Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif proposed forming a committee to tackle ongoing political issues and invited Maulana Fazlur Rehman to join both the ruling coalition and this committee, according to sources in the PM’s office.
However, a spokesperson from the JUI-F confirmed that Maulana Fazlur Rehman declined the invitation to join the government, asserting that seeking power was not their political objective.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman led the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an opposition alliance that played a crucial role in the ouster of former Prime Minister Imran Khan through a no-confidence motion in April 2022. Despite the offer from PM Shehbaz, the JUI-F remains outside the ruling coalition.
