Here’s how you can find out who owns a mobile SIM card and get other information about it.

Due to concerns about misuse, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has introduced new measures to ensure mobile SIM cards are properly registered and not used illegally.

With new technology, Pakistanis can now easily check who owns SIM cards registered in their names using online methods.

In the past, SIM cards could be obtained without strict registration, leading to more unauthorized activities. This prompted the PTA to enforce stricter rules.

Here’s how you can check: Under the new rules, you can find out the owner’s name and ID number of a SIM card by sending an SMS. Just text “MNP” to 667 from your mobile. This service works with major telecom providers like Jazz, Warid, Ufone, Zong, and Telenor.

This process saves you from visiting network stores or dealing with lots of paperwork. Instead, you can verify ownership quickly and easily with a text message.

Besides SMS, there are also Android apps and software available for checking SIM ownership details online. Be careful though, as these apps may not be officially approved. It’s best to check their credibility before using them.
