Bill Gates, Chairman of the Bill Gates Foundation, promised strong support during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and National Task Force officials.
Gates praised Pakistan’s recent progress in fighting polio and stressed the need for hard work over the next six months to eradicate the disease. Prime Minister Sharif affirmed the government’s commitment to use all resources and work with provincial authorities to achieve this goal.
Sharif acknowledged the importance of the partnership with the Bill Gates Foundation in advancing healthcare in Pakistan. The meeting discussed the impact of cross-border movements on polio and the need for coordinated vaccination campaigns and better surveillance.
Gates also mentioned ongoing health projects in Pakistan, including a digitization initiative to improve healthcare delivery. He expressed confidence that Pakistan can overcome the remaining challenges in polio eradication with continued commitment and international cooperation.
