SIC lawmaker’s rude comments cause chaos in NA

The National Assembly is currently discussing the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25.

During the debate, Sanaullah Khan Mastikhel, supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf but now with the SIC, allegedly made inappropriate remarks against female lawmakers from the PML-N. Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa, who was chairing the session, turned off Mastikhel’s microphone after his comments sparked uproar in the assembly.

PML-N female lawmakers went to the Speaker’s chamber and demanded Mastikhel’s suspension. They also protested with slogans against him. The National Assembly Secretariat temporarily suspended Mastikhel, with a formal notification to follow.

During an assembly session, PML-Q’s Tariq Bashir Cheema reportedly used abusive language against PTI leader Zartaj Gul. This led to a tense exchange between Cheema and Gul, prompting members of the SIC to protest. Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and PML-N leader Tariq Fazal Chaudhry apologized to the SIC members, while the SIC called for an FIR to be filed against Cheema.
