South Africa crushed Afghanistan by nine wickets on Thursday to reach their first ICC T20 World Cup final.
This was South Africa’s first win in a World Cup semi-final since 1992. They will face the winner of the India vs. England semi-final for the title in Barbados on Saturday.
South Africa dominated, bowling out Afghanistan in less than 12 overs for their lowest-ever T20 score. Despite losing Quinton de Kock early, Reeza Hendricks and captain Aiden Markram comfortably reached the target in under nine overs.
Afghanistan, playing their first semi-final, struggled as Marco Jansen, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, and Tabraiz Shamsi took key wickets. Despite a good run in the tournament, Afghanistan couldn’t withstand South Africa’s strong performance.
Captain Rashid Khan acknowledged the tough match but remained positive about Afghanistan’s progress. South Africa now aims to lift the trophy, bringing hope to their fans back home.
