SC asked to bring back the ‘bat’ as a PTI symbol.

A citizen named Engineer Qazi Muhammad Saleem asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to restore the ‘bat’ as the PTI party symbol.

This would allow elected candidates who ran as independents without the party symbol to rejoin their party.

Saleem filed a petition under Article 184(3) of the Constitution, naming the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Election Commission as respondents.

He requested the court to give back the PTI symbol since they had to contest the February 8 elections without it, following a Supreme Court order.

He also asked the court to let independent candidates who won rejoin PTI and to allow PTI to receive its fair share of reserved seats.

Saleem argued that taking away the ‘bat’ symbol caused confusion and disorder before the general election.
