Taylor Swift chose to perform in Amsterdam on the 4th of July instead of hosting her usual annual party in Rhode Island.
Normally, she celebrates Independence Day at her home in Watch Hill, but this year she focused on her work. She performed at the Johan Cruijff Arena and will continue with two more shows there until July 6.
In past years, Taylor would throw a big party at her house and share moments on Instagram. Her friend Selena Gomez often joined her for these gatherings. Taylor stopped hosting these parties after the 2016 election because she felt disappointed with the direction of the country. She faced criticism during that time and decided to step back from the spotlight for a while.
