Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered Nepra and the FIA to investigate electricity overbilling.
They are to return extra charges to customers after the inquiry.
Customers received bills of Rs8000 instead of Rs3000 due to a pro-rata system. The investigation started after complaints of overbilling.
A high-level committee will identify those responsible for the ministry and Lesco. A report will be sent to the Prime Minister’s Office for action.
The overbilling report is expected by tomorrow evening. Customers who have inflated bills will get their money back. Ministry consultant Saqib Jamal and the Lesco administration approved the pro rata system.
