In a strong statement, Hina Pervaiz Butt, Chairperson of the Punjab Women Protection Authority, has declared that ending violence against women is the top priority for the Punjab government.
“We will not tolerate any form of pressure or violence against women,” Butt emphasized. “It’s crucial that we shift societal attitudes. Those who harm women or hold negative views about them are, in reality, afraid of them.”
Recent reports indicate incidents of violence against women in Multan, Faisalabad, and Sheikhupura. To combat this, Butt announced that the Punjab government is working on a new system where the government itself will act against those who abuse or exploit women and children.
The government is committed to taking all necessary actions to safeguard women and ensure their security, aiming to implement effective measures to eliminate violence and protect women’s rights.
