Ali Raza, the husband of 20-year-old Sania Zehra, has been arrested in Multan on suspicion of murdering his pregnant wife. Sania, a mother of two, was found dead in her home near Kumharanwala Chowk on July 9. Her body was discovered hanging, initially suggesting suicide.
Following a detailed investigation, the police have taken Ali Raza into custody for questioning. He has been moved to an undisclosed location as authorities work to uncover the truth behind Sania’s death. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered a full report from the Multan police on July 13 to ensure a thorough investigation.
Sania’s father, Asad Abbas, believes his daughter was murdered. He claims she was killed at night and hanged in the morning to make it look like a suicide. He has called for justice and accused the police of staging the scene.
To gather more evidence, Sania’s body was exhumed on court orders. The process was overseen by a magistrate, ensuring all legal protocols were followed. Forensic samples have been sent to a lab in Lahore for analysis. Dr. Munazzah, who leads women’s anti-violence initiatives, stated that the exhumation was necessary for a complete investigation.
The New Multan police station has assured the public that more suspects may be arrested soon. The arrest of Ali Raza marks a significant step in seeking justice for Sania Zehra.c
