A landlord in Muzaffargarh has been arrested for cutting off a donkey’s legs after the animal entered his field to drink water during a heatwave.
The incident happened in Jatoi Tehsil, where the landlord used a machete to harm the donkey. A case has been filed at Jatoi Police Station, and the landlord is now in custody. The donkey has received medical care from the Livestock Department.
Animal cruelty cases in Pakistan are increasing due to a lack of awareness about animal rights, weak law enforcement, and harmful cultural practices. The issue is also compounded by insufficient reporting and a general disregard for animal welfare.
