KARACHI: Five people, including Akbar Bugti’s grandson, were killed in a violent clash between two groups on Khayaban-e-Nishat in Defence late Thursday night.
The victims have been identified as Mir Mohsin Bugti, Mir Isa Bugti, Ali Bugti, Fahad Bugti, and Naseebullah. The injured include Mir Ali Haider Bugti and Qaim Ali.
Sources report that the gunfight erupted between two groups, but the cause of the clash remains unknown. According to SSP South, the conflict involved the Fahad Bugti group and the Ali Haider Bugti group, both factions of Nawabzada Akbar Bugti’s family. Three members from one group and two from the other group lost their lives.
In response to the violence, a heavy contingent of police and Rangers has been stationed outside the emergency ward of Karachi’s Jinnah Hospital, where members of both groups have gathered. Only the injured are being allowed inside the emergency ward. The hospital administration confirmed that five bodies were brought to Jinnah Hospital, while two injured individuals were transferred to a private hospital.
Police are on high alert to prevent further violence and are currently carrying out procedural actions. The bodies of Fahad Bugti and Naseebullah have been moved to the mortuary at Jinnah Hospital, while the other three bodies have been taken to the mortuary at Civil Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
Sindh Interior Minister Zia Hasan Lanjhar has requested a detailed report on the incident from the Additional IG Karachi. He emphasized that no one is above the law and vowed to take all necessary measures to uphold peace in the city. Legal action will be taken against those involved in the armed clash to ensure that efforts to maintain order are not compromised.
