Major Corruption Scandal Uncovered at Islamabad Club by Auditor General

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Club, a prominent facility in the capital city, has been hit by a massive scandal involving over Rs750 million. The Auditor General of Pakistan has exposed significant financial irregularities.

Reports reveal that the club suffered a loss of Rs199.2 million for the fiscal year 2022-23, despite distributing Rs100 million in bonuses to employees. The audit also found that Rs300 million was spent on domestic projects without proper cost estimates or measurements.

The audit highlights several specific issues:

  • Over Rs14 million was used to build a lake near the cricket ground.
  • Rs16.1 million was spent on floodlights without a competitive bidding process.
  • Rs104.5 million in membership fees were not collected.
  • Rs93.6 million was spent on civil works without design approval from the Capital Development Authority (CDA).
  • Rs25 million was allocated for corporate membership fees.
  • Rs105 million was spent on various development projects.
  • Rs4.4 million was paid to a consultant without an open competition.

The Auditor General’s report brings to light serious financial mismanagement at Islamabad Club, calling for immediate action to address these issues.
