ISLAMABAD: On Friday, internet outages across multiple cities caused major disruptions, leaving many social media users struggling to stay connected.

There were rumors that the government had installed a new firewall to monitor online activity, but the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) denied this. A senior PTA official mentioned that they received several queries but no formal complaints. The exact reason for the internet slowdown remains unknown, as the PTA insists that their systems are functioning normally.

Popular platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp were hit particularly hard. Users reported slow connections, making it difficult to use messaging and social media apps. Millions of people who rely on these platforms for communication, work, and daily tasks expressed frustration over the interruptions.

One internet service provider (ISP) noted that users have been facing ongoing service disruptions for the past week. WhatsApp users reported issues with sending and receiving messages, as well as problems with uploading and downloading content. Facebook users experienced slow loading times and difficulties in uploading posts.

This situation highlights just how important reliable internet service is in today’s digital world, where so many people depend on it for staying connected and running their daily lives.
