Six Children Die from Poisoned Milk in Khairpur; Investigation Underway

Poisoned Milk

A tragic incident in Khairpur, Sindh, has claimed the lives of six children after they consumed milk laced with poison. The heartbreaking event took place in the village of Habib Brohi, near Pir Jo Goth, where over ten children fell ill after drinking the contaminated milk.

The affected children were rushed to a local hospital, but despite efforts to save them, two died shortly after arrival. Over the next day, four more children from the same family succumbed to the poisoning, bringing the death toll to six. The victims have been identified as Dilbar Ghulam Asghar, Fahmida Ganj, Baby Sonia, and others. Four additional children, including Maryam Hajani, Manzoor, and Muhammad Bakhsh, are in critical condition.

The grieving families are expressing their anger and frustration, accusing the local hospital of negligence. They claim that a lack of medical staff and inadequate facilities contributed to the tragic outcome. The families also believe that delays in reaching the hospital, exacerbated by heavy rains, worsened the children’s conditions.

Hospital officials have confirmed that the deaths were caused by poisoning in the milk and are conducting tests to identify the specific toxin involved. An investigation is currently underway to determine the source of the poison and hold those responsible accountable.
