Meta Teams Up with Pakistan to Tackle Explicit Content with ‘Take It Down’ Program

Take It Down

Pakistan has partnered with Meta for a new initiative called “Take It Down,” aimed at removing inappropriate images from social media. This tool is designed to help combat issues like revenge porn, which has increasingly affected teenagers and their mental health.

Ayesha Raza from the National Commission on Child Rights shared details about this agreement during a Senate meeting. The new tool will allow minors to report and remove harmful content from social media quickly.

Minister for Human Rights and Law, Azam Nazeer Tarar, praised the efforts of various commissions within the Ministry of Human Rights and highlighted recent successes in handling significant cases.

The “Take It Down” tool lets minors create a digital fingerprint or hash for their sensitive photos. If these photos are later uploaded to Meta’s platforms, the system will detect, review, and remove them. This approach aims to protect individuals and ensure a safer online environment.
