Iran Appoints Ex-Defense Minister as New Deputy Chief of Staff

Iran

Iran has named its former Defense Minister as the new Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces. The announcement was made during a ceremony in Tehran on Wednesday, attended by Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, the Chief of Staff.

This move follows a recent cabinet reshuffle by President Massoud Pizeshkian, who appointed Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh as the new Minister of Defense, replacing Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani.

The appointment of the former Defense Minister to this new role is part of a broader reorganization within Iran’s military leadership.
