KARACHI: In a tragic incident on Sunday, two children and a passerby lost their lives after falling into a deep well in Karachi. The incident occurred near Fawara Chowk in Garden East, where a 100-foot-deep well, reportedly part of a residential construction project, claimed the lives of three individuals.

The two children, identified as Badar Sohaib, 8, and Talha Asif, 10, were playing near the well when its cover broke, causing them to fall inside. A passerby, who tried to rescue them, also died after descending into the well, likely due to toxic gases and a lack of oxygen.

Rescue teams rushed to the scene but faced challenges due to the toxic environment inside the well, which delayed the recovery operation by five hours. All three bodies were eventually recovered, and a post-mortem examination will determine the exact cause of death.

Police have stated that criminal proceedings will be initiated against the owners and developers of the building project.
