No Military Trial for PTI’s Founder, Says Omar Ayub

Omar Ayub

ISLAMABAD: Omar Ayub, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, announced on Thursday that there will be no military trial for the founder of PTI. Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Ayub emphasized that PTI leaders who are currently imprisoned are political prisoners. He challenged the government to provide evidence of PTI’s involvement in the May 9 incidents.

Ayub criticized the current government, accusing it of failing to control rising prices and claiming it has no future. He also alleged that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was involved in the sugar and wheat scandals.

PTI’s Barrister Gohar, speaking alongside Ayub, questioned the possibility of meaningful talks with the government, noting that even the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) are not engaging with them. He also pointed out that PTI had allowed Mahmood Achakzai to initiate talks with other political parties.

Gohar further criticized the postponement of local council elections in Islamabad, calling it a broken promise. He reminded that the government had assured on the assembly floor that the elections would not be delayed, yet they went back on their word.
