KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has predicted that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah will be the next Chief Justice of Pakistan, as discussions continue over constitutional amendments related to the judiciary.

The government is considering changes that would establish a Federal Constitutional Court and increase the retirement age for judges. Amid this, Bilawal expressed concerns over making Supreme Court judges controversial and emphasized the need for broad consensus on these constitutional changes.

Bilawal also highlighted the slow pace of justice, referencing the 50-year wait for a verdict in the Zulfikar Bhutto murder case, and called for caution in amending the Constitution. He praised Justice Qazi Faiz Isa for respecting Parliament’s authority by limiting his own powers, particularly with regard to the Parliament’s Practice and Procedure Bill.

Bilawal also urged the government to provide clear evidence about the May 9 incidents involving the PTI founder and to handle the issue through legal channels. He stressed the need for adherence to court decisions on military courts to maintain justice.
