ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has accused the government of attempting to create a constitutional court to sidestep the Supreme Court. Speaking to reporters after attending a Toshakhana case hearing at Adiala Jail, Mr. Khan stated that the government is unhappy with the Supreme Court’s decisions and is seeking to prolong his imprisonment through these proposed amendments.

Imran Khan expressed concern that the government’s actions would undermine the judiciary and protect alleged election fraud. He urged the public to stand up for their rights and protect the judiciary from government interference.

The former PM also criticized amendments made to the National Accountability Ordinance, claiming they benefit the ruling coalition by protecting their wealth, while noting that his own legal team has sought protection under the same amended law in a separate case.

In the ongoing Toshakhana case, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been ordered by the court to submit a report, with the next hearing scheduled for September 23.
