Four new polio cases have been confirmed in Pakistan, raising the total number of cases to 32 this year.
Health officials report that three cases were detected in Sindh and one in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Among the latest cases is a six-year-old child from UC Ibrahim Hyderi in Malir, Karachi, and a 22-month-old child in UC Murga, Dera Ismail Khan. Another case emerged from UC Thul Toshe in Jacobabad.
Authorities are conducting genetic testing to determine the strain of the virus.
So far this year, 16 polio cases have been reported in Balochistan, 10 in Sindh, four in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one in Punjab, and one in Islamabad.
The rise in polio cases has sparked concerns about the effectiveness of ongoing vaccination campaigns. Health officials urge parents to ensure their children receive all necessary vaccinations to protect against the disease.
Pakistan and Afghanistan remain the only two countries in the world where polio is still endemic.
