Sindh Reports Over 106,000 Malaria Cases in One Week

Sindh has witnessed a significant rise in malaria cases, with over 106,000 cases reported last week, according to ARY News, citing reliable sources.

The National Institute of Health (NIH) reported a total of 106,684 malaria cases across the province. Larkana had the highest number with 11,588 cases, followed by Khairpur with 10,681 cases. Other districts hit hard by the disease include Qambar (7,998 cases), Mirpurkhas (7,230), Dadu (6,045), and Badin (5,948).

In Karachi, 779 malaria cases were reported, with 155 from District West, 135 from East, and smaller numbers from Korangi, South, and Kemari.

This surge in cases comes after similar reports from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where over 54,000 malaria cases have been recorded this year. Health officials attribute the rise in vector-borne diseases to climate change and have called for urgent action to control the outbreak.

Authorities have directed District Health Officers to take immediate steps to control the spread of malaria and submit their reports.
