Palestinian Medical Students from Gaza Arrive in Pakistan to Continue Studies

LAHORE: A group of 27 Palestinian medical students from Gaza has arrived in Lahore to continue their education in Pakistan, ARY News reported.

The students traveled to Pakistan from Istanbul and were escorted to a local hotel under tight security. Before reaching Lahore, the Embassy of Pakistan in Cairo and Al-Khidmat Foundation helped organize their departure from Cairo International Airport.

This group is part of a larger batch of 192 Palestinian students who will pursue medical and dental education in various Pakistani institutes. Under the direction of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, these students will be supported with fully funded scholarships.

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) had earlier granted special permission for Gaza students to complete their studies in Pakistan. The approval came after a request from the Pakistani High Commissioner in London.

According to the PMDC president, around 100 Palestinian medical and dental students are expected to arrive in Pakistan. They will be placed in various colleges, and a committee will ensure their education continues smoothly.

This decision follows recent events in Gaza, where a UN report estimated that 250,000 people have been displaced by Israeli evacuation orders. The ongoing conflict has caused significant loss of life, with Gaza’s health ministry reporting over 42,000 deaths, mostly civilians.
