In a recent announcement by TasteAtlas, a prominent food review publication, Zahid Nihari, situated on Karachi’s Tariq Road, proudly claims the 89th position on the list of must-visit restaurants in 2024. The restaurant’s specialty lies in nihari, a slow-cooked beef stew celebrated for its rich flavors and tender meat, all served in a simple, no-frills environment. Zahid Nihari stands as a landmark in Karachi, representing traditional Pakistani cuisine.

TasteAtlas, recognized as an encyclopedia of traditional dishes and authentic eateries globally, curated this list from a vast database of 23,751 traditional eateries. The selected 100 restaurants stood out for their longevity, reliability, and iconic status, both for the restaurant itself and its signature dishes.

“These are not just places to eat, but also cultural institutions for their cities. They are ranked taking into account three criteria: longevity, visitors ratings, and the TasteAtlas ratings of the iconic dishes they offer,” noted the website.

TasteAtlas serves as a comprehensive guide to traditional dishes, local ingredients, and authentic restaurants worldwide, boasting a catalog of over 10,000 foods and drinks, with ongoing research to uncover and map even more culinary treasures.
