Asim Tanha, a songwriter associated with PTI, was fatally shot in Bhakkar.

Poet Asim Tanha, renowned for penning the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party anthem, was reportedly killed in Punjab following a personal dispute that escalated from a heated exchange.

Local accounts reveal that Majid Khan, also known as Asim Tanha, was fatally shot by Samiullah, who had initially been engaged in a verbal altercation with him a day earlier in the Daili Namdar area of Bhakkar district, Punjab.

In retaliation for his brother’s death, Tanha’s sibling, Sajid, reportedly shot and killed Samiullah.

The incident, rooted in a family dispute, led to the tragic deaths of the two individuals. Police promptly responded to the shooting, securing the crime scene and registering a first information report.

An investigation is underway, and the police are conducting raids to apprehend Sajid, who allegedly fled the scene after the fatal shooting of Samiullah.

Asim Tanha, recognized for his poetic contributions in Urdu, Punjabi, and Siraiki languages, authored the famous PTI anthem “Hum Koi Ghulam to Nahi.” He also published a book titled ‘Hum Koi Ghulam to Nahi,’ featuring a compilation of his songs and anthems.
