Pakistan’s interim Prime Minister, Anwaarul Haq Kakar, recently responded to the serious allegations faced by the country’s former premier, Imran Khan, who has been in jail since August of last year. In a recent interview, Kakar addressed the issue, stating that there is no solid evidence proving Imran Khan’s involvement in the events that occurred on May 9.
While acknowledging the possibility of a military trial for those directly implicated in the events, Kakar emphasized that the entire party should not be held accountable. He pointed out that relying solely on intelligence reports for punishment might be insufficient. Furthermore, Kakar noted that members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) involved in the events were currently in hiding, making it challenging for them to participate in future political activities.
To address concerns and maintain transparency, Kakar assured the public that the findings related to the May 9 events would be made public through the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) after a thorough investigation. This move aims to provide clarity on the situation and establish a fair and just course of action.
In addition to addressing these sensitive matters, the caretaker Prime Minister emphasized the significance of a smooth transition of power. He predicted that election results would be known by the evening of February 8 or the morning of February 9. While expressing his belief in democracy, Kakar underscored the importance of the democratic government improving governance and performance to secure support from the people. This reflects his commitment to ensuring a stable and effective democratic system in Pakistan.
