With the upcoming general elections in Pakistan scheduled for February 8, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), strongly criticized his political rivals during a fiery speech at a public rally in Hyderabad.
Bilawal urged the people to vote for the PPP’s election symbol, the ‘arrow,’ to counter the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), represented by the ‘lion’ symbol. He emphasized the importance of hard work and assured the crowd that he would handle the competition with the lion.
Taking a swipe at the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Bilawal advised the people not to vote for the ‘kite’ symbol, suggesting they reject those who raise anti-Pakistan slogans.
He discouraged wasting votes on independent candidates, possibly referring to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed candidates running as independents due to a recent Supreme Court decision affecting the PTI’s symbol.
Bilawal also criticized the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), a former ally, asking people not to support the ‘Book’ symbol and rejecting those who promote division on religious grounds.
Expressing his need for all seats in Hyderabad, Bilawal thanked the people for their support in the recent local body elections and promised a significant victory for the PPP on February 8.
He called for an end to politics based on hatred and division, urging voters to use their power to bring positive change. Turning his attention to the PML-N, Bilawal accused them of practicing divisive politics and criticized their leadership, suggesting they are focused on returning to power without understanding the people’s problems.
The PPP and PML-N, once allies in the previous government, have been engaged in a war of words as the country approaches the upcoming elections. Bilawal’s speech reflects his determination to secure support for the PPP and his strong stance against rival political parties.
