A lawyer says Qureshi is facing consequences for supporting Imran.

The lawyer representing the accused in the cipher case told the Islamabad High Court that Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the former foreign minister, is facing legal action for refusing to testify against ex-prime minister Imran Khan.

He explained that Qureshi was pressured to speak against Khan but refused, leading to legal troubles for him. The lawyer argued that Qureshi’s refusal was due to his patriotism and suggested that the case against him was unjust.

The defense counsel mentioned that the Official Secrets Act, under which the case was filed, is outdated and should not apply in this situation. He claimed that the documents related to the case were not presented in court intentionally to hide the truth.

Additionally, the lawyer argued that Khan had acted in the country’s best interest by disclosing information about foreign interference, which led to the National Security Committee’s action against the US.

During the hearing, it was revealed that special arrangements had been made for Khan’s security in Adiala jail, including the allocation of seven cells and extra CCTV cameras.

Meanwhile, in the Lahore High Court, it was discussed that Khan’s life was at risk due to security threats, and measures were being taken to ensure his safety in prison.

The court adjourned the hearings for further consideration.
