After becoming the CM of KPK, Ali Amin Gandapur called for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.

After becoming the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Ali Amin Gandapur called for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.

He accused the CEC of playing a role in stealing his party’s mandate in the February 8 general elections.

In his victory speech to lawmakers, Gandapur promised to meet the expectations set by the PTI founder. He criticized the injustice done to PTI leaders and demanded a free and fair trial for Imran Khan, advocating for his release from prison.

Gandapur emphasized the party’s desire for a fair system rather than seeking revenge. He highlighted issues with the election symbol and the restriction on raising their voice for Kashmir, asserting their determination to reclaim their rights.

Addressing the February 8 elections, Gandapur called for the restoration of their mandate. He accused selected leaders of repeatedly coming to power to exploit public funds.

Gandapur demanded the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner, asked for the dismissal of FIRs against PTI’s female candidates, and urged Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa to form a judicial commission on the May 9 incident.

The new CM pledged to combat corruption and improve the economic situation in KP. He emphasized plans to focus on revenue generation, relieve the poor from burdens, provide property rights and free legal assistance to women, and invest in trade and business development for employment.

Gandapur secured 90 votes as an independent candidate, with support from Sunni Ittehad Council members. His opponent, PML-N candidate Dr. Ibadullah Khan, received 16 votes with support from PPP and PTI-P.

Nominated by PTI founder Imran Khan, Gandapur previously served as the federal minister for Kashmir affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan. He also held the position of provincial minister in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from 2013 to 2018.
