Aimal Wali Khan began his political journey in 2007 as a member of the Pakhtun Students’ Federation (PSF). He was active in the student wing until 2011. Throughout his career, he has held various positions within the ANP. He was elected Joint Secretary in 2011 and Provincial Deputy General Secretary in 2014. In 2019, he was unanimously elected as Provincial President of ANP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also holds the Directorship of the Baacha Khan Trust and is known for his active participation in the party’s internal elections held every four years.

Khan contested the 2018 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial election from Constituency PK-58 (Charsadda-II) but was unsuccessful, receiving 22,141 votes. He also ran in the 2022 Pakistan by-elections from Constituency NA-24 (Charsadda-II) but lost to Imran Khan, the chairman of PTI, despite receiving 68,356 votes.
