An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in the federal capital has canceled the arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
The warrants were issued due to violent protests and violation of Section 144.
Gandapur had requested the suspension of his arrest warrant for a case at the I-9 Police Station. He told the court he missed previous hearings because of official duties. On July 2, the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Gandapur and other PTI leaders, warning they would be declared offenders if they remained absent.
Gandapur had asked to be excused from attending the hearing, saying he was out of town. Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra did not accept this reason and issued a non-bailable arrest warrant but agreed to review the decision if Gandapur appeared in the next hearing. When Gandapur appeared in court today, the judge canceled the warrants.
