Blasphemy Suspect Shot Dead by Policeman Inside Quetta Station

QUETTA: A blasphemy suspect, Abdul Ali, was shot and killed by a police officer while in custody at the Cantonment Police Station in Quetta. Abdul Ali had been charged under Section 295-C of the Pakistan Penal Code after a video allegedly showing him committing blasphemy went viral.

Initially, Abdul Ali was taken into custody at Kharotabad Police Station, but due to a large crowd gathering outside and demanding his handover, he was transferred to Cantonment Police Station for safety.

However, once at the new location, a police constable, Syed Khan Sarhadi, shot Abdul Ali while he was still in custody. Authorities have since arrested the officer responsible for the shooting, and an investigation is underway.

Police confirmed that a post-mortem will be conducted in a secure location, with a police surgeon called instead of transferring the body to the Civil Hospital to avoid further unrest.
